The fishing village Nazaré has developed into a tourism centre within the last years and is therefore partially overflowed in the peak seasons. Nevertheless is a visit worth-while. Nazaré lies at a lovely bay with a very long beach. The lower part of the town still consists of small lanes with fisherman huts. The district Síto lies above the approx. 100 m high cliffs. From there is a fantastic view along the coast. Síto can be reached either by car or by cable railway. In the church Nossa Senhora da Nazaré are lovely Azulejos. In the second week of September a procession takes place here, with town feast, bull-fight and more. Women with traditional clothing sell their goods to guests on vantage point.
Nazaré is located about 10 km away from Alcobaça so that combination of beach and culture is possible.
