 After the earthquake of 1755 at which many parts of Lisbon were destroyed, a new center was reconstructed. Between Praça do Comércio, Rossio, Praça dos Restauradores, grid pattern streets arose. The Baixa is the downtown of Lisbon and both young and old people love Rossio.

Have a walk along the Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon's most famous street, till the Jardim Botânico and take a rest in this tropical garden.
The famous Ginjiha (a cherry brandy from Lisbon) should be tasted in a small tavern where only Ginjiha is served.
